My own bridal button bouquet!

As you all know, the reason Cute as a Button got started in the first place is because I saw a button bouquet on the internet and fell in love with it. I decided , to save money, that I would attempt to make my own and the rest is history!

Im glad I had a chance to make other bouquets first. Its given me a chance to perfect my technique and find out what style I wanted for my bouquet. I’ve gone with a 100 stem teardrop bouquet. The teardrop is slightly different to teardrops I’ve done on other bouquets, but I really like it. Its not quite finished I’d like to add! I need to finish the collar and handle but at this present moment I’m not quite sure how I want it.

Every single button in my bouquet was either given to me by friends, friends relatives, relatives of ours, found in antique shops or car boot sales which makes it so more special to me.

We’re going to use it as our table centre piece at the reception.

A long overdue blog post! I’m back! :)

So, its been a stupidly long time since I last blogged!

Trying to hold down two jobs, run two businesses (yes! theres another one!), plan a wedding and run a house took its toll over the end of last year! Nothing like taking too much on!

At the moment, things have calmed down and I have a ridiculous amount of wedding things to share with you! There’s some new, amazing wedding suppliers now involved with our wedding. All of which you can find on my links & friends of page.

We now have 15 weeks to go before our big day!!!!!! I cant begin to describe how quickly that time has gone. I honestly dont think its sunk in yet for me that we are getting married, and soon!

Everything that needed booking is booked. The dress is brought. All that we now have left to do is make 100’s & 100’s of DIY bits and pieces! All of which I will be blogging about! I’ve arranged a girls night at our house on the 18th Feb where everyone that said they wanted to help will have to chance to! (And I’m sure more than a few glasses of wine!)

Cute as a Button is going from strength to strength. We supplied some beautiful bouquet orders at the end of last year. One of which was for the very talented Anmar of Crumb. Her & her now husband Ben, had a beautiful wedding in her home town in South Africa.

I’m going to get busy writing all the posts to keep you updated on whats going on with our wedding plans!

News update and honeymoon destination!

Hey peps.

I’ve been slack with the blog. I know. However I do have many excuses!!!!!

I am now the new bar manager for our beautiful wedding venue, Glemham Hall. So this has meant putting many hours in to get a bar set up from scratch. I’m loving the challenge and to work in such beautiful settings is amazing. However, this is, at the moment, my main priority as our first event with the bar will be the Truly Vintage wedding fair on the 5th June.

Which brings me to my next excuse! Cute as a Button will be having its first ever wedding fair stall at the fair. ( I now know that trying to launch two very important things on the same day is not one of the brightest ideas I’ve had!) So I have been busy busy busy making bouquets for the fair (as well as making bouquets for a bridal order too).

One of the bouquets I have been busy making for the stall is Cute as a Button‘s take on a replica Kate Middleton bouquet. I thought we should jump on the royal wedding band wagon!

And here it is!

Cute as a Button's twist on a replica Kate Middleton bouquet

Now I’m sure, that if you follow me on Twitter you will all of seen this before! There are more pictures available on the website and on our Facebook page for those of you that haven’t seen it yet!

Now on top of all that, I’ve been doing my full-time job and have a few other exciting things on the go which I’m sworn to secrecy about but will share in good time so I’m hoping that you can all understand why I have been a bit slack lately!

So back to what this blog is for! Our wedding plans. (Not, to shamelessly plug my new business. Which is called Cute as a Button incase you missed that! 🙂 )

We have decided where we want to go on honeymoon! And that my dear readers is Vegas baby! Yeah!

We decided that we should make the most of the opportunity of going on holiday on our own and do something that we love. And we both love to play poker! As its our honeymoon we’re going to do it in style too! We’ve decided that we’re going to stay at the Bellagio Hotel.

This is the hotel that was used in Oceans Eleven and so many other films. We’re both massive massive CSI fans, and yes I’m well aware that it’s not actually filmed in Vegas, but that’s another reason why we want to go there. So excited about it and cant wait to get it all booked up!

I know that a growing trend at the moment is to ask wedding guests to donate money towards your honeymoon instead of having a wedding list. Now, at first, I felt a little uncomfortable about the idea of doing this. My reason for this was that a couple we know, sent out their invites asking for money towards their honeymoon but included their bank account number and sort code details on the invite! Which I personally thought was a little rude to be honest!

We have decided that we are going to ask for donations towards our honeymoon, but we are also going to have a wedding list for guests that feel uncomfortable giving money. We are not going to be so blatant as to give our bank account details! The independent travel agents that we have in the market town that I work in, supply you with little coupons with a message written by us, their details and our honeymoon details on it for us to put in with our invites. Then, if guests do want to donate, that can do it directly through the travel agent. I feel much more comfortable doing it this way!

Right, all wish me luck for the 5th June! And if your about and free, please come down to the Truly Vintage wedding fair and say hello! There are some fabulous suppliers taking part! Its 10am till 4pm and free entry!

A Most Curious Vintage Wedding Fair!

Hello my lovelies! Did you all have a good weekend?

So on Saturday me, a couple of my friends (one of which was my head bridesmaid), my mum and my daughter attended the wonderful A Most Curious Vintage Wedding Fair in Norwich. It was my first wedding fair, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was heaven! There was everything that any bride to be planning a vintage style wedding could have wanted there!

I finally got to me the beautiful Elle is for Love! She looked stunning! And her stall had to be one of the prettiest stalls there!

She let me take some pictures!

My mother fell in love with the table plan! Elle has now started writing a blog which I’m so excited about reading, please go and check it out! Elle is for Love!

Now, through updating Cute as a Button‘s Facebook page, the lovely Hetty from Antidote Vintage Fashion contacted me and asked if they could use one of my button bridal bouquets in a fashion show! Of course I said yes and can’t thank them enough for asking!

I know its my creation, but how great does that bouquet look with that dress!

One of the things that I did see at the fair, was a wedding cake covered in buttons! It was a beautiful cake and I stupidly didn’t take any pictures! 😦

However, as you all know, I’m planning on making the cake myself to save us a bit of money! So me and Elle (well mainly Elle!) have been brain storming and she found these amazing moulds to make the buttons out of icing to put on the cake! I cant wait to try it and show you how I get on with it!

I’ve come away from the fair with so many ideas and it was also good to see how other people had their stalls set up to give me an idea for what I need to do for Cute as a Button‘s stall at the “Truly Vintage” wedding fair at Glemham Hall in June! Lets just say, I have a lot to do!

Also, the lovely Laura of the wonderful BonFireNightBride blog, has featured me as one of her brides to be! If you want to know all the gossip on how me and James met and how the proposal went please go and check out her fantastic blog!

Some exciting news and all that jazz!

So hows everyone loving the weather! I’m currently sitting in my mother’s garden drinking coffee (with a slight hangover!) in the sun in my PJ’s! There’s something about the sun that just seems to perk everyone up and I’m loving how positive its making everyone! Away with those winter blues! 🙂

So, I’m going to admit now, this post isn’t very wedding oriented! It’s me being a little cheeky and making sure your aware of Cute as a Button’s new website! Yes, I know, how amazing is that! It has its own website already!

Now I’m not going to take the credit for this fabulous idea! Full credit for Cute as a Button having a website this quick goes to…. SL Jewellery and Accessories.

I was having a general chit-chat with S_L_Jewellery on Twitter, (like I do a lot these days!) and she suggested I get a website. I had been thinking about this but as it was such a new business I didn’t want to lay out money to do it! (I know, want my cake and eat it!) Well she suggested Get British Businesses Online, and now thanks to that, Cute as a Button has its very own website!

You can check it out at www.cuteasabuttonuk.co.uk!

I’ve finished the design that is now going to be  used in a bridal show at “A Most Curious Wedding Fair“. I’m so excited to see it being used!

Truly Vintage Wedding Fair and a very exciting update!

So I have lot’s of exciting news to share!

First part is…….. I have set up my own little business making and selling my button bouquets!

As you all know, I decided to make the ones for our wedding to save money. I’ve been giving it a trial run lately and been keeping you all up to date with my progress through this blog and my twitter account. I’ve had some really great feedback. You’ve all been so kind.

I decided to make a blue one as a very good friend of mine had a little baby boy last week. She had said how nice the bouquets are and I wanted to give her something a bit different and something she could keep.

The blue button bouquet has come out so well, especially for my first attempt. I’m so pleased with it. From sharing my progress on twitter, I was approached by a bride to be wanting to know if I would be able to make one for her wedding! I was in shock when I got the message but also over the moon that someone was that impressed with my handy work that they would want it at their wedding! So I agreed.

After a long discussion with hubby to be, I decided that if I was going to make them for other people I needed to set up a little Etsy shop and Facebook Page for people to see what I could do. So, Cute as a Button was born! (The name was thanks to South West Make Up.)

I have also made some button hanging hearts out of left over buttons from the bouquets. I’ve had 3 orders of those already! So I have been rushed off my feet this week trying to set it all up and make stuff!

So please pop over to the Facebook Page “Cute as a Button” and show some love!

Now……………….. For the second piece of very exciting news!!!!!!!

As you will know from my blog, that our wedding ceremony venue is the lovely, Glemham Hall. I’ve become quite friendly with Donna the wedding co-ordinator for the venue and she informs that they are holding “Truly Vintage” wedding fair on the 5th June. And the best bit, Cute as a Button will be having their first ever wedding fair stall there!

Im soooo super, super excited!!!! Cant wait. However that does mean I have lots of work and designs to come up with before then! Any idea’s will be greatly received!!!! 🙂

Donna is looking for interest from suppliers. If you are interested in exhibiting at Truly Vintage wedding fair, please contact Donna via her email. weddings@glemhamhall.co.uk or Glemham Hall’s Facebook page, Glemham Events. Show them some love for their Facebook page while your there! You can also follow and contact them through Twitter. @GlemhamEvents.

Or you can contact me and I’ll pass your details on.

Let me know if your going to be there! Would be lovely to meet up with everyone!

Button Bouquet Progress.

Anyone who reads this blog on a regular basis will be very aware that I decided to attempt to make my button bouquets for our wedding myself, mainly due to being on a very tight budget and I guess I just wanted to see if I could do it!

Well I have made one! It’s not completely finished as the handle still needs to be covered and the material leafs that lay under the buttons need to be made. (I’m waiting on the materials I’ve ordered to arrive!)

Now this one isn’t for our wedding as it was a trial run to see if I could do it, and here it is!

I’m soooo pleased with it! I by no means got it right straight away and had to fiddle around with it a lot but I’m very pleased with the way it’s turned out and cant wait to see what it looks like when the handle is finished!

Now, since I posted the pictures of my progress on Facebook and Twitter, I’ve had some great  feedback about it! So thank you all for your kind words! It has however, opened up a great opportunity for me, as through this, I have been approached by a bride to be to create a button bouquet for her wedding! So I guess this is going to become a little side business for me! I’m over joyed at the prospect of making these for other people and possibly having it as a second job! (don’t want to get too ahead of myself though!)

So, this pink, purple and red bouquet will be for sale once its finished! If anyone would like to buy it please contact me at emmabuzec_27@yahoo.co.uk.

I’ve also finished some of the buttonholes for our wedding and had some great feedback about them too and I’m extremely pleased with them!

These aren’t for sale! 🙂 However, I will be making buttonholes too if people want them!

So, there’s my update! I’m currently meant to be resting after having some teeth out this morning but I have a very special exclusive post to share with you tomorrow which I cant wait to do!
